{"product_id":"fluorite-856","title":"FLUORITE","description":"Germany is blessed with many wonderful Fluorite occurrences, but of those the Reinerzau mining district, at Alpirsbach, in the Karlsruhe Region, Baden-Württemberg is one where specimens are rarely seen in modern collections. Indeed, this small cabinet-sized display specimen of pure aggregated pale peppermint-green cubic crystals is an extremely unusual find, coming from an older German collection. This ancient silver mining area in the very west of Germany finally ceased mining in 1965 and that appears to coincide with when the last specimens were obtained. Although not without flaws, this fine specimen is exceptional compared with the few other images of specimens we have seen from there. At up to 4 cm on edge, the Fluorite crystals are very large and uniformly translucent, with lightly frosted surfaces. There is some chipping to the edges of the main crystals, but this has to be balanced by the rarity factor of any well-crystallized Fluorite from the Reinerzau mining district, and in that context this is superb.
