{"product_id":"fluorite-1370","title":"FLUORITE","description":"Large individual green Fluorite crystals are a very rare occurrence, making this superb cubo-octahedral crystal from the 2024 finds at the remote Milpo mine in the Atacocha mining district in the high Peruvian Andes a very special piece indeed. Off-matrix, this is actually two crystals: a main, really shapely, 7 cm wide cubo-octahedron, with a smaller crystal attached to its base. Both crystals are sheered off along their rear, meaning that only seven of the twelve crystal faces of a complete cubo-octahedron are displayed on the main crystal, but those that are, present a really well-balanced shape and with no matrix on the back, the crystal can be illuminated from behind to produce a lovely green glow. Its green colour is not as deep a green as emerald, and has a hint of bluish undertones. Noticeably, the square-shaped cube faces are glassy and smooth, revealing a transparent interior, whilst the octahedron faces are rough-textured and translucent, caused by many tiny crystal faces undulating across the surface. A single rounded dark brown Sphalerite crystal sits upon the surface of one side of the main Fluorite crystal.
