Technically, the olive-green glossy Epidote crystals are bladed rather than acicular, and are aligned mostly parallel to each other but still have the appearance of sprays. The Quartz, the colourless variety Rock Crystal, forms very narrow pyramidally terminated crystals, in the form usually called 'needle' Quartz, as slightly divergent sprays right around the specimen. Pale brown bladed Axinite-(Mn) crystals are intergrown with the Quartz but are not as visible as the striking green Epidote sprays.
