The famous Dioptase included rhombic Calcite crystals are a classic, but probably more so is the 'mushy-pea' green dusting of Duftite upon the surfaces of the Calcite crystals. Larger miniature in size, this makes for a really wonderful smaller display specimen. Individually, the rhombic Calcite crystals reach up to 1.4 cm on edge and extend around both sides of this piece, with the front face almost totally covered in Duftite, with tiny white, rhombic, second generation Calcite crystals mixed in with the Duftite which almost looks like the 'pebble-dash' affect seen on early 20th century British houses in texture. On the reverse, and around the sides, the white, slightly translucent Calcite rhombs are mostly uncovered, showing how the formation of Duftite was very much direction-related. Where exposed, the Calcite crystals are seen to contain a thin layer of emerald-green Dioptase inclusions, usually towards one outer edge.
