Another feature in favour of Tsumeb Dioptase is its frequent association with white Dolomite or Calcite, producing an exceptional contrast in colour that really enhances the Dioptase crystals further. Getting the perfect balance of crystal size, crystal shape, colour, lustre and white matrix is the challenge, and one which few specimens achieve. This absolutely stunning cabinet-sized display specimen hits the mark on all of the above, with crystals reaching an impressive (for Tsumeb mine) 1.5 cm in length with amazing intensity of colour, remarkable glassy surfaces, superb transparency and with a great white background.
