It is from the most famous Descloizite occurrence of all time, at Berg Aukas, Grootfontein District, Namibia but is made more special by the dusting of Calcite preferentially upon one side of blades, adding significantly to its charm. The uncoated sides of the Descloizite are extremely glossy and very dark cola-brown in colour, but the unusual Calcite coating adds the proverbial \"icing to the cake\". Commonly, Descloizite specimens from Berg Aukas show some degree of damage, usually where the tips of the bladed crystals have be bashed, but the only damage of note on this piece are at the edges where crystals have been completely removed. Those that stand up are all in exceptional condition and look superb.
