The Cuprite forms a metallic black crystal with mirror-like reflective faces and only along one edge are hints of its true characteristic blood-red colour be detected.  The Primary Malachite has a silky lustre which shimmers whilst rocked back and forth.  It forms broad, gently curved blades nested within each other, with each layer receding a little, in a Sidney Opera House roof-style structure.
