Originally named Redruthite, it was renamed as Chalcocite in 1868. The upper surfaces are completely covered with small, 1 to 3 mm crystals, but occasionally reach 5 mm across and form a mosaic-like coverage.  Part of an old hand written label remains glued to one side of this most attractive specimen.
