{"product_id":"celestine-18","title":"CELESTINE","description":"Yate, near Bristol in the south-west of England was once the centre of world strontium production but you would hardly believe it now with most of the old surface workings covered by new housing developments. A 'new' town, Yate is now a major commuter settlement on the outskirts of Bristol, but a century ago it was a mere hamlet with several 'quarries' excavating shallow pits containing huge heavy nodules of dense Celestine. Used in a process for refining sugar beet, and for the red colour in fireworks, the Celestine was usually massive and sugary in texture, but occasionally the larger nodules were lined inside with colourless to white tabular crystals, similar in appearance to Baryte. This small cabinet sized specimen is pure Celestine with a sawn base and side, and with its display surface part of the central cavity lined with tabular crystals, the largest complete crystal reaching 1.6 cm across. There is some scuffing and broken cleavage surfaces to the crystals around the edges of the vug, but they display the classic tabular shape for the Yate area.","brand":"Crystal Classics","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46792605204655,"sku":"CC42636","price":300.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0710\/8516\/2671\/files\/CC42636.png?v=1784021678","url":"https:\/\/crystalclassics.com\/products\/celestine-18","provider":"Crystal Classics","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
