Usually, this presents as individual and clustered Dioptase crystals sat upon a bed of massive Calcite or Dolomite, but rarely, this manifests itself as smaller Dioptase crystals coating larger rhombic Calcite crystals either totally, or preferentially across certain crystal faces usually orientated in one particular direction. Rarer still, this process is then followed by a second generation of Calcite, as colourless rhombs through which the green Dioptase can be seen, or with Dioptase crystals included within, encapsulated by the Calcite. This magnificent cabinet-sized display specimen presents this rarest of forms, but not only that, it does it with class, with no appreciable damage of note and looking simply majestic. The second generation of Calcite crystals are sharp, colourless rhombs, with beautiful green flashes from the underlying Dioptase crystals and tiny inclusions within.
