{"product_id":"calcite-on-dolomite-cast-14","title":"CALCITE on DOLOMITE cast","description":"Dolomite casts or, shells of crystallized Dolomite with their previous host missing, are a classic feature of the famous huge mineral deposit at Tsumeb mine and, as with this fine cabinet-size specimen, later minerals have sometimes developed upon the Dolomite - in this case Calcite. Forming a fairly thin plate, the Dolomite is crystallized as large lenticular crystals closely bunched together in some parallel groupings, but also slightly rosetted and varying in colour from red-brown to grey-white. On the front, crystallized surface of the Dolomite, a line of cream coloured Calcite and a few isolated individual Calcite crystals can be seen, but on the back the Dolomite is almost entirely coated in Calcite as a much later generation. Although both are carbonates, the difference between the Calcite and Dolomite is quite clear, and displayed nicely.
