This covers a mixed sulphide matrix of mainly Sphalerite and Arsenopyrite.  From the Herja mine in Maramureș County, Romania, the Calcite forms uniaxial growths of highly flattened rhombohedral crystals.  Our brilliant photographer, Olga Kaspera, suggested the prime crystal looks like a lightly baked scone and I have to agree!  We were tempted to spread it with jam and Cornish clotted cream, but then thought better of it!
