The mine actually produces high-grade iron ore (Magnetite), but there are associated phosphates within which rare species occur. The world's largest Bobierrite crystals come from Kovdor Zheleznyi mine, and at 3 cm from end to end, the largest crystal on this specimen is certainly impressive.
