{"product_id":"baryte-with-dolomite-11","title":"BARYTE with DOLOMITE","description":"There is something special about the Baryte crystals found in the West Cumbrian iron mines that makes them just so charming and collectible. Most were found during the 1890s and into the early 20th century and are therefore historic reminders of our mining heritage. This fine miniature is certainly not the largest group of crystals found, but has wonderful appeal. At 5.2 cm in length, the largest crystal has a superb shape, like a wide sword, but with parallel crystals rising alongside each 'shoulder' and colour-zoning with a pale amber core and greyish-cream outer edges. Its termination shows just the very slightest of 'nibbling', but otherwise is very fine indeed with a excellent resinous lustre. Another bladed crystal rises up from across its lower section, striking off at close to right angles to its sharp edges but flat, thus spanning both sides of the first crystal. Another large crystal intergrown across the base of the others is missing a significant chunk of its end, but this is near to the base of the specimen and can act as a support to sit the piece upright. A small area of contrasting creamy-white Dolomite is intergrown with the base of some of the Baryte crystals. This Dolomite is less crystals and more casts, showing hollow lines perhaps where an earlier generation of Baryte once lay. An old-time West Cumbrian classic with a slightly different colour to usual. Ex Malcolm Southwood Collection, no. MS 1998.008.","brand":"Crystal Classics","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46793763225775,"sku":"CC48494","price":750.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0710\/8516\/2671\/files\/CC48494.png?v=1784018905","url":"https:\/\/crystalclassics.com\/products\/baryte-with-dolomite-11","provider":"Crystal Classics","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
